Thanks for a great meeting!
We would like to thank all our directors and colleagues who attended the 2016 Fall Director’s Meeting. We are especially grateful for our presenters and speakers: Assistant Commissioner Beverly Smith, Dr. Serena Walker, and Kimberlee Bryant (who could not attend in person but who prepared the American Community Survey Data Comparison).
The meeting presentation slides and handouts are available to view and download on this page. Also available are galleries of the photos from the CLCP Directors Meeting and the CLCP Advocacy Awards presented at the GED Awards luncheon.
We extend a hearty congratulations to all the CLCPs who were distinguished for having the most tutor and volunteer hours and those who awarded the highest number of GED Testing Scholarships.
American Community Survey Data Comparisons
Presenter: Kimberlee Bryant
The most recent American Community Survey (ACS), covering the years 2010 to 2014, has shown a state-wide increase in adults who have a high school or GED diploma. This presentation provides county-by-county statistics, showing improvements made in the past ten years, and suggests the likely factors that contributed to these improvements.
ACS Data Comparison Chart
A county-by-county chart showing educational attainment for ACS 2005-2009 compared to educational attainment for ACS 2010-2014. Includes data showing the percentage of improvement for each county. Data sets are broken down by age (18+ or 25+).
Preliminary Data Comparisons
A chart comparing the state-wide numbers for adults without a GED or high school diploma (2005-2009 and 2010-2014). Five years ago, there were 36 Georgia counties where 30% or more of the adults lacked a diploma. This document indicates which of those counties have risen out of the "red zone".
Counties in which 30% or more of the adults are without a high school or GED diploma
A map rendering of the original 36 counties in the red zone (in the 2005-2009 survey) and those counties that have increased educational attainment and dropped below the 30% mark (according to the 2010-2014 survey).
